MOUZ and Team Vitality have become the first teams to qualify for the playoffs of ESL Pro League Season 24 after completing perfect 3–0 runs in the Swiss stage. Both teams secured their playoff spots in Katowice by defeating strong opponents in their third matches.
MOUZ Ends Spirit's Winning Run
MOUZ produced one of the biggest results of the tournament so far by defeating Team Spirit 2–0.
MOUZ won Dust2 13–5 before closing out Mirage 13–11. The victory was particularly notable because Spirit entered the match on a 13-series winning streak and had been one of the favorites to win the tournament.
Adrian “xelex” Vincze and Lotan “Spinx” Giladi were among MOUZ's standout performers as the team secured its place in the Spodek Arena playoffs.
Vitality Comes Back Against Falcons
Vitality also secured a 3–0 record, but had to fight back after losing the opening map against Falcons.
Falcons took Anubis 13–9, but Vitality responded strongly on Dust2, winning 13–4. The team then completed the comeback on Mirage with a 13–8 victory.
The result sends Vitality into the playoffs while Falcons will have another opportunity to qualify in the next stage of the Swiss bracket.
Spirit and Falcons Still Have a Chance
Despite their losses, both Spirit and Falcons remain in the tournament. They will have to continue through the Swiss stage to secure one of the remaining playoff positions.
With MOUZ and Vitality already through, attention now turns to the other teams fighting for the remaining spots at Spodek Arena.
ShindeN and TYLOO Eliminated
The third round also brought the first eliminations of ESL Pro League Season 24.
ShindeN were eliminated after losing to G2, while TYLOO were knocked out by M80. ShindeN had faced a difficult Swiss run that included Spirit, Legacy and G2, while TYLOO were unable to recover after losing to Falcons and 9z.
The remaining teams will continue battling through the Swiss stage for the six playoff places still available.
