Natus Vincere (NAVI) defeated Team Spirit 2–1 in a decisive Counter-Strike 2 match at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 on October 29. The victory eliminated Spirit from the tournament and secured NAVI’s place in the playoffs, despite Spirit entering the match as the world’s top-ranked team according to HLTV.
The result also set up another meeting between NAVI and Team Vitality in the quarter-finals, giving the Ukrainian side an opportunity to respond after losing to Vitality earlier in the event.
NAVI Dominate the Opening and Deciding Maps
NAVI started strongly on Cache, winning their map pick 13–2 after establishing a 10–2 lead at halftime. Spirit responded on Dust2, recovering from a 4–8 halftime deficit to win 13–10 after taking nine of the next 11 rounds.
With the series on the line, NAVI delivered another commanding performance on Anubis, securing a 13–3 victory to close out the series 2–1. The defeat ended Spirit’s tournament run, while NAVI advanced after surviving the final Swiss Stage decider.
makazze Leads NAVI’s Winning Performance
Drin “makazze” Shaqiri was a key performer for NAVI, recording 57 kills across the three maps. Teammate Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov also made a significant contribution with 50 kills.
According to the reports, this was NAVI’s third victory in their last 15 meetings with Spirit and their first win against the team since IEM Katowice in February 2025.
NAVI’s route to qualification had been challenging. The team began with 2–0 victories over G2 and FURIA but subsequently suffered defeats against BetBoom Team and Vitality. That left the team needing a win against Spirit to remain in the competition.
Spirit Exit as NAVI Prepare for Vitality
Spirit’s elimination leaves the team outside the playoff stage, with the reports placing them between ninth and eleventh. Their campaign ended after losses to MOUZ and NAVI, despite their strong world ranking.
NAVI now face Vitality in the quarter-finals, a rematch against the team that defeated them 2–0 earlier in the Swiss Stage. Vitality will feature Justinas “jL” Lekavicius as a stand-in for Dan “apEX” Madesclaire, who is on paternity leave. jL previously played for NAVI before makazze joined the lineup.
With a playoff place secured after a high-pressure elimination match, NAVI will look to carry their momentum into the next round of PGL Masters Bucharest 2026.
