Team Vitality bounced back from their defeat to FUT Esports by defeating Natus Vincere (NAVI) 2-0 at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026. The October 27 victory secured Vitality’s place in the playoffs, taking their record in the tournament to three wins and one loss.
The series also marked a significant moment for stand-in Justinas “jL” Lekavicius, who faced his former team for the first time since leaving NAVI in July. Meanwhile, NAVI suffered their second consecutive defeat, leaving them with a 2-2 record in the group stage.
jL and Vitality Overpower NAVI
Vitality delivered a convincing performance across both maps, winning NAVI’s Inferno pick before completing the series on Dust2. Despite NAVI’s attempt to recover on the second map, Vitality maintained control and closed out the match 2-0.
According to Esports net, jL finished the series with 13 kills and five deaths, earning a 1.58 rating. William “mezii” Merriman recorded an even stronger individual performance, ending the series with 19 kills, nine deaths and a 1.86 rating.
The result was particularly notable for jL, who joined Vitality as a substitute in August. He is standing in for Dan “apEX” Madesclaire at the Bucharest event while apEX takes paternity leave.
Vitality Recover After FUT Defeat
The victory marked Vitality’s third win in four matches at the tournament. They had previously defeated 9z and The MongolZ 2-0 before FUT Esports handed them their first loss, winning a closely contested series 2-1.
Against NAVI, Vitality returned to winning form and strengthened their position heading into the playoffs. The result also continued their recent advantage in head-to-head meetings, with Vitality winning three of their four encounters since May 2026.
Vitality’s consistency has kept them among the teams to watch in Bucharest, particularly after their recent success against MOUZ and Aurora Gaming in ESL Pro League Season 24.
NAVI Face a Crucial Fight to Survive
For NAVI, the defeat extended a difficult run in the tournament. After opening their campaign with victories over G2 and FURIA, they lost 2-0 to BetBoom Team before suffering the same result against Vitality.
Their 2-2 record left them facing a decisive match against Team Spirit, with elimination at stake. NAVI will need to recover quickly if they hope to continue their campaign in Bucharest.
PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 runs until October 31, with teams competing for a share of the $1.25 million prize pool. Vitality have secured their playoff place, while NAVI must fight to keep their tournament hopes alive.
