The groups for the League of Legends tournament at the 2026 Asian Games have been revealed, with South Korea and Taiwan placed together in Group B. The competition will take place from September 29 to October 2 at the Aichi Sky Expo in Japan.
South Korea and Taiwan Lead Group B
Group B features South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and India. South Korea enters the tournament with several well-known League of Legends players, including Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Keria.
Taiwan will also bring experienced players to the competition, including JD Gaming duo Tsai “hongQ” Ming-hong and Yu “JunJia” Chun-chia. Hong Kong's lineup includes Tier 1 players Li “1xn” Sau Nam and Ling “Kaiwing” Kai Wing.
India will also compete in Group B after qualifying through the Asian Games regional process. The country secured one of the six qualifier spots alongside teams including Vietnam, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Vietnam Headlines Group A
Group A consists of Vietnam, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Vietnam enters the group with a lineup featuring five players from the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP). Several of them have qualified for the 2026 World Championship with their respective clubs, including GAM Esports and Team Secret Whales.
Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE will compete for the remaining playoff position, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the next stage.
Four-Day Competition
The League of Legends tournament will begin with the group stage before moving into a four-team playoff. The event is part of the esports programme at the 2026 Asian Games, which features 11 medal events across different games.
With the groups now confirmed, teams will prepare for the competition as they look to secure a place in the medal rounds.
